inside the therapy room...
my approach.
You will feel valued, listened to, and accepted.
How many times have you felt like people are not listening to you? Or, that they want to offer advice, or talk about their own issues? In the therapeutic space with me, you will have space and time to explore what is really going on, without judgement. I will offer my perspective on experiences you have shared, invite you to talk about your emotions (as that is normally when things get confusing!), and empower you to come up with solutions or make decisions. I believe you have the answers within you, but sometimes, we need some support to get to those answers.
You will have more than one way to express yourself.
Sometimes, emotions, experiences and thoughts are difficult to talk about, which is why I offer alternative ways to explore them. Alongside talking, I might invite you doodle, make a collage, or experiment with movement. The idea behind this is that it takes the pressure off having to verbally communicate how you feel. All invitations to be creative are optional - sitting and talking can be more than enough for you.
You will have an opportunity to rediscover who you are.
Whilst you might be coming to therapy for inner healing or exploration of past experiences, it might also be that you want to get to know yourself better, or you want to work towards reaching your fullest potential. The perception of therapy is that it is going to be hard and difficult, when in reality, there is space for the entire human experience, which includes, laughter, happiness, or excitement.
... and lastly, I am here for you!
Having worked in customer service settings before becoming a therapist, I know what good service looks like. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), which means I work to their Code of Ethics regarding professionalism and confidentiality.
